Oriental Trading to the rescue! Halloween style

Hey everyone!

It's been a while. I have been on maternity leave with my super sweet daughter, Caroline! I had her in June and was lucky enough to get the summer off with her as well as 12 weeks at the beginning of the year. I sure do miss the kinders, but it has been a true blessing to be home with her as well!

So, as us mommy's know-we want pictures for every holiday. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. It can add up and get SUPER pricey, especially from a professional photog. Well, I decided to check out oriental trading and get a few props and take the pics myself. #maternityleavebudget

Here is what I purchased from Oriental Trading...

Peanuts backdrop

Pumpkin baby costume

Pumpkin string lights

And...here's our pics!!

Oriental Trading snoopy background on door and string lights on chair!

Checkout Oriental Trading! The string lights were a huge hit! Her pumpkin costume was adorable. Cheap and easy photo props for moms on a budget!

Apples, Apples, Oriental Trading & a freebie

Hi Everyone! I hope your new school year is going well! We have been in school for 21 days! A lot has happened in that short amount of time.....a lot of rules have been learned and procedures have been taught (we are almost ready to start seeing guided reading groups)  .... so before all of that happens we have our special Apple Week! Our school librarian kicks it off by reading and discussing nonfiction and fiction apple books.

The apple costume comes from Oriental Trading (look at the worm holding the book) The students were glued to our wonderful apple reader! So cute!
We spent time in every subject area using apples, sorting apples, measuring ourselves with apples....counting apple ERASERS

We counted apples in a ten frame with this very fun math apple power point games, you can check out here!

Look, we are scientists using our senses to find out more about our apples!

We are still adjusting to our kindergarten afternoon....so we put on some quiet music and did some apple crafts! Thanks to Oriental Trading, we were able to write on our MAGIC color scratch apples and make beautiful tissue apples too!

And then of course we had to do some apple stamping! We use our beautiful apple stamped paper to make fall leaves for our tree in the hallway! Here is last years tree.

And for those of you looking for a companion activity to Ten Apples Up on Top, here is a free Math activity to help your students  use the ten frame help them add to 10!

Thanks for dropping by 2 Scoops of Kindergarten!

Self Portraits & Kwik Stix

Hi Everyone! This is Gloria and I have to tell you about one of my favorite art supplies in our kindergarten classroom.

Kwik Stix are paint sticks that dry super fast and are soooo easy to use. No more paint brushes,
water containers, and messy paint to clean up.

We have been using these for a few years now. We bring them outside to paint but also in the classroom. We just loved using them in our self portraits! They turned out so cute!

Kwik Stix can be purchased at Target, Amazon, Pencil Grip.com  and BJ's Wholesale Clubs.
