Teen Number Turkeys

The children had fun learning teen numbers by building their turkeys!  They really loved using our interactive whiteboard for this activity.  They got a kick out of clicking on the speakers and hearing the numbers read aloud as they built the turkeys.  Each child got to complete the activity and brought a printed copy home!  Check it out in our TPT store!

Run! Run! Run! Gingerbread man!

I love reading all of the gingerbread man books in December and the children love them too! I just finished a sight word packet gingerbread themed activities for the upcoming month.

I am very excited to try it out with my kiddos! You can check it out at our tpt account here.

Look for some math activities to follow too.
We always hang up a gingerbread boy on our wall which the children enjoy describing him with a lot of great adjectives.
Hint:  Teachers who have smartboards, put  the picture on your computer and display on the smartboard, then with your paper taped to the smartboard trace your picture.  You then have a great picture every time.  You do not have to be a fabulous artist.

Wonderful Worm Investigations

This past week was one of the most exciting and memorable ones in kindergarten. It is when the kinders investigate worms. Some of the children start out being afraid until they learn about them and then they get such a kick out of touching the worms and using their magnifying glasses to really look up close.  They are relieved when they find out they don't have teeth and no eyes or brain. Not too scary then. Ha!

I created this worm investigation unit which consists of science, math, language arts and a craft to add to the fun of our unit! Here is a little peek into this unit.

Click here  to get this unit at our TPT store. The kindergartners
loved it!

Fall Bulletin Boards

It is hard to believe it is November already!  We put away all our apples and finished our pumpkin projects and now we are getting ready for our Thanksgiving play! Outside the kindergarten hallway is a big bulletin board for us to display our work!  We just took down the fall tree and we are putting up our Mayflower!  The kindergartners love to look at their work as they pass it every day and get so excited when something new goes up!(It does not take much to excite a kindergartner though!)

Do I use a lot of exclamation marks!!! Ha ha..I guess I am just as excited as my kindergartners.

Last year I could not find the brown paper for the tree so we made a spooky black tree with an owl inside!  The children apple stamp on paper and we make colorful leaves from that.  The kinders write about what they can do in the fall.

For the pilgrim faces we use paper plates, the girls color their bonnets and the boys have pilgrim hats.  It is always so funny how they some how can make a simple paper plate come to life with their own personality.
